Ernesto Gismondi is founder of the internationally successful Artemide Group, producing lamps of highest standard. Born in 1931 in San Remo, Italy, Gismondi studied aeronautical and missile engineering in Milan and Rome. In 1959, he founded Artemide. With his pioneering design spirit, Ernesto Gismondi ranks among the leading figures in the international design scene. He has created many classic lamp designs and the world of design cannot be imagined without his many years of design experience and expertise. Ernesto Gismondi was also a member of the legendary Memphis collective, founded by Ettore Sottsass in the early 1980s.
The Artemide Miconos Wall Sconce adds a glossy, industrial element to contemporary lighting schemes. It features a blown globe of transparent glass that allows the inner bulb to sparkle forth. Adding to the overall luster is the Polished Chrome finish on the wall plate, support bracket and other metal surfaces. Designed by Ernesto Gismondi.
Since 1959, Artemide has created a wide array of modern table lamps, floor lamps, wall sconces and suspensions. Technologically advanced, and with styles ranging from clean and refined to sculptural and avant garde, many Artemide designs--especially the Tolomeo and Tizio--have become icons of contemporary lighting design.
